Melting Moments have long been one of my favourites that I not only make for breakfast but have for lunch or as a snack. It is basically an English muffin that is toasted before having toppings put on and then melting cheese over the toppings.
My favourite topping is ham, tomato and melted cheese but there are many toppings you could have. My second favourite is bacon with melted cheese. Other favourite of mine are spaghetti with cheese and Vegemite with cheese. You can literally put whatever topping you like on the muffin and melt cheese on it. You could even call these mini pizzas – that will definitely get anyone eating them, because, who doesn’t love pizza?
Ingredients for a Melting Moment
- English muffins are required to make a melting moment.
- Toppings I like to use include ham. Sometimes I had a slice of tomato or use tomato sauce or pizza sauce for extra flavour.
- Cheese, either a slice or grated cheese is necessary to melt.
Ingredient Substitutions for Melting Moments
If you don’t have any English muffins on hand, you can use slices of bread or even small pizza bases.
How to Make a Melting Moment
- Cut or pull apart the English Muffin. I like to toast my English muffin as it makes it a little crunchy and not soggy.
- Put toppings of choice on the toasted muffin and cover with cheese.
- Melt cheese which heats up the muffin and the chosen topping.
- Serve and enjoy.
What utensils are required to make Melting Moments
- I like to toast my English muffin so a toaster. Once toasted, I top them with cheese and put them in the oven to melt and slightly brown the cheese.
- Another option, particularly if travelling, backpacking or camping is to use a frypan. You can toast your muffin in the frypan, put your toppings and cheese on and the heat from the flypan will melt the cheese. If the frypan has a lid, I usually put this on as it acts like an oven to melt the cheese.
